Digitally Inflicted Sinophobia

Domainer's Magazine - Digitally Inflicted Sinophobia (Joe Callan) At the beginning of February I wrote a column for the March/April issue Domainer’s Magazine about the almost certain possibility that Google would pull out of its business ventures in China. As suspected, that event has come to pass, and with it comes news that GoDaddy will also wash its hands of Chinese domain sales [WaPo], owing to China’s crackdown on rules for registering a .cn domain.
What’s next for China? China’s addiction to information control is now to the point where it will stifle international opportunities for technological growth, harm diplomatic relationships, and jeopardize the “superpower” status ascribed to its monumental growth that has been especially evident in the last two decades. You can check out my blog at the newly redesigned Domainer’s Magazine website.
